The Burning Lake of Sulfur

THE LAKE OF FIRE

When I wrote this study, I wanted to call it, 'What Part of Total Desolation and Destruction Don't You Understand'. I make this statement beforehand although it may cause some to forgo reading the study, but it is so true and so needed. This age and natural world of wisdom and knowledge is coming to an end, then as the Apostle said, what kind of people ought we to be. I know I am a sinner with everyone else, and far be it from me to judge the world, but by God and His word, so many are being led astray with false teaching. Have I superior knowledge others do not have, God forgive, it is Gods wisdom and knowledge we, and I include myself, need discern and understand. So let me describe what I have found of Gods word most profound.

What is the difference between the 'Burning Lake of Sulfur', and the 'Lake of Fire', there is a very important difference concerning these two. This is important because scripture teaches us that the wicked, the evil, the unredeemed, those who receive the mark of the Beast and worship Satan, these within Hell (grave, Sheol, Hades) will be tormented forever and ever (in Hell). However read the bible in full context, where does it instruct eternal suffering continues (after) final judgment (in Hell), when both Death and Hades/Hell are cast into the Lake of Fire... after which it is only the 'smoke of their suffering' that rises forever.

About this earth age desolation is described as likened to the 'beginning of creation', also when the elements literally melt. The Greek NT5356 in compilation is used to refer as 'corruption - destruction - perishing', the connotation being those cast into the Lake of Fire no longer exist but as only smoke, the 'corruption, destruction, and perishing' of this present earth age as 'desolation' described when Christ returns as 'no place found for them'. This study will include verses describing eternal life, or eternal perishing, stated clearly in bible. After this Christ assures of the age to come saying He will 'make all things new'.... not a repair, refurbish, or fix the old.... but 'new'.

Gal 6:7-8
7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. NKJV

2 Thessalonians 1:9-10
9 These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, 10 when He comes, in that Day, to be glorified in His saints and to be admired among all those who believe, because our testimony among you was believed. NKJV

2 Thessalonians 2:8
8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming. NKJV

2 Peter 3:10
10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. NKJV

2 Peter 3:11-13
11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. NKJV

Revelation 17:11
"The beast who once was, and now is not, is an eighth king. He belongs to the seven and is going to his destruction." NIV

Luke 13:3
3 I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all likewise perish. NKJV

John 3:16
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. KJV

John 10:27-28
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. KJV

2 Peter 2:12
12 But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption... KJV

2 Peter 3:8-9
"The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." NIV

Rev 20:14-15
14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. KJV

Rev 21:7-8
7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. 8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. KJV

We are assured that God does not oppress as told in Job 37:23 "The Almighty is beyond our reach and exalted in power; in his justice and great righteousness, he does not oppress."

What is described as suffering or torment forever and ever, is within this lifetime and within Hell, the spiritual realm of this earth age, and this also called the grave, Sheol, or Hades, among a number of other descriptions. However about this earth age of 'Death (and) Hades', these as composite of all wicked after judgment will be cast into the Lake of Fire fulfilling the 'second death'.

Then what best describes the 'torment' in Hell (after) judgment, is found described in Revelation 14:11 "And the smoke of their torment rises for ever and ever." Smoke is an adequate description of an entity of God's creation now destroyed in the Lake of Fire. The question then that begs answer, what part of passing away, perishing, destroy, and destruction, do some have trouble in understanding?

Before ending this study, there remains one additional and important understanding concerning what the Lord God has said about this present (1) heaven, (2) earth, and (3) Jerusalem... these will end, pass away, be destroyed when as told in Revelation at the return of the Lord, no place found for them. Read these verses closely, starting with Jerusalem, and what the Apostle said of this city of God, in Hebrew 13:14 "For here we have no continuing city, but we seek the one to come." Not only did they know a New Jerusalem was to come, they also awaited a new heaven and earth, as told in 2 Peter 3:13 "Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells." About this destruction and passing away, was also given warning, 2 Peter 3:11-12 "Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?

Certainly this is what Christ foretold in Matt 24:35 "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. We might wonder about the prophesy of Isaiah, however he states our (old order) passing away, replaced with (new creations), this said in Isaiah 65:17-19 "For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; And the former shall not be remembered or come to mind. But be glad and rejoice forever in what I create; For behold, I create Jerusalem as a rejoicing, And her people a joy. I will rejoice in Jerusalem, And joy in My people; The voice of weeping shall no longer be heard in her, Nor the voice of crying." We are assured at the return of Christ of this promise, Rev 21:5 "Then He who sat on the throne said,"Behold, I make all things new." And He said to me, "Write, for these words are true and faithful."

Last, pay close attention concerning the Return of The Lord, what does it say describing those remaining upon the earth, and those (elect) within the heavens, found in Matt 24:30-31 "Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other." About the Apocalypse before Christ returns for final judgment, pay attention to how this period is described in Matt 24:21 "For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. Consider the state of existence at the (beginning of creation)... of the world.

Addendum: many believe and teach the wicked will suffer or be tormented for ever and ever, forgetting this is in Hell, another (English) name for grave, Sheol, Hades, and others. This Hell is yet of this earth age relating to the natural and spiritual realms of this earth. If all of the above is true, then the following verse explains this suffering or torment, Rev 14:11 "And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever..."
